Installing a watch face
One button, from either the watch or the phone. Here's what each step means.
About 4 minutes
Every face goes through the same steps, worded the same way whether you're on your watch or your phone:
- Get: tap the button on the face's detail page. If it costs coins and you're signed in, this spends them and unlocks the face for good; if it's free, this step is instant.
- Purchasing…: only shows for a paid face, while your coins are being spent.
- Installing…: the face is being sent to your watch.
- On your watch ✓: done. Open your watch face picker to see it, or it may already be showing.
Installing from your watch works exactly like this, start to finish, with no phone involved.
Installing from your phone sends the face to your paired watch over Bluetooth. You tap Get on your phone, and in most cases it just appears on your watch with nothing to do there. If your watch hasn't given Face Hub permission to activate faces automatically, you'll see a one-time nudge instead: press and hold your current watch face, then pick the new one from the picker. That's a one-time thing per watch, not per face.
Occasionally the watch finishes installing a face but the confirmation doesn't make it back to your phone in time, and the phone shows a failure it shouldn't have. If that happens, check your watch face picker: the face is very likely already there. See Installing isn't working for more.
