Worth being clear about

The free tools are good. Use them if they fit.

Facer and Watch Face Studio are free, they are good, and for a simple face you should use one of them. Google also ships a free Figma plugin that exports straight to Google Play. None of that is in dispute.

WristForge is for the faces those tools cannot build.

Watch Face Studio

Animation means importing a sequence of images you made somewhere else. Samsung's own guide puts playback at a fixed 15 frames per second. Its timeline controls when a component is visible, not how it moves.

Facer Creator

Animation means typing expressions into property fields. Facer's own documentation teaches it with lines like sin(#DWE#*2)*50 on rotation for a pendulum. Powerful, and it is still trigonometry rather than a timeline.

WristForge

A real keyframe timeline: tracks for opacity, position, scale, rotation and tint, easing on every segment, playing while you author rather than only in preview. Plus Watch Face Studio project import, wrist-tilt parallax, masks, real text outlines and soft shadows baked at build time.

The fine print, up front

What you can count on.

Your projects are yours

Project files live on your disk in an open format. A lapsed subscription never holds your work hostage, and there is no export you have to remember to do.

What you shipped stays shipped

A bundle you have already built is yours, and an app you have already published sits on your own Google Play account under your own name. Nothing that happens to your subscription can reach it.

Your Google Play sales are yours

A face you publish on Google Play goes out under your own developer account, and whatever Google pays you is yours. We take no cut of it. Publishing to Face Hub is free as well.

No ads

None in the editor and none in Face Hub. You are the customer, so there is nobody else to sell.

Founder pricing is permanent

Subscribe yearly before the game side launches and this is your price for as long as you keep the subscription, games included, after the list price goes up.

Questions

Before you decide.

Why is the editor free if the tool is the product?
Because capping what you can make would be the wrong thing to cap. The free tools have no limits on design, so a ceiling on components or layers would just make WristForge the worse choice for anyone starting out. Everything you can build is free. What costs money is shipping it to a store.
Can I really build and install on my own watch without paying?
Yes, and that is not a trial. Create a signing key, build a signed APK, put it on your watch, hand it to a friend. You can also push a face onto your own watch through the Face Hub app without touching Google Play at all. No time limit and no nag. Pro is about publishing to Google Play, not about whether the thing you made works.
Does Pro unlock every face on Face Hub?
Pro unlocks every face WristForge makes, as a thank-you for building with us. Faces made by other creators are theirs to price, so those are bought separately.
Can I publish my faces on Face Hub?
Yes, and it is free. Submit a face from your creator page, we review it, and it goes live for Face Hub users. You can also publish the same face on Google Play under your own account; Face Hub is never exclusive.
Do I still need a Google Play developer account?
Only for Google Play. That is a one-time 25 dollar fee paid to Google, not to us, and new personal accounts also need a closed test with 12 testers for 14 days before they can go to production. Installing on your own watch, and publishing to Face Hub, need no Play account at all.
What happens if I stop paying?
The editor keeps working, in full. Your projects open normally, signed APKs still build, and anything you already shipped to Google Play stays exactly where it is. What you lose, until you resubscribe, is building new Play bundles and the WristForge-made faces Pro unlocks on Face Hub.
Is this cheaper than the alternatives?
No, the alternatives are free. It is more capable, and if a free tool does what you need then it is the better deal and you should use it. This is worth paying for when you have hit something those tools cannot represent.
What about games?
The game side of the engine is in development. When it ships, the list price for new subscribers goes up. Anyone already on the yearly plan is a founder and keeps their price with games included, for as long as they stay subscribed. Monthly subscribers move to the new pricing, with notice first.
